My Double-DIY Trail Mix

So the other day, I made homemade fruit snacks and reviewed the recipe on here.  They were a hit, and on Tuesday I only had a small handful left over.

Also on Tuesday, the girls did not finish the apple slices they had with lunch.

Lovely, no?

I diced those apple slices and threw them in the dehydrator for 2 hours.

When they're done, you have a second type of DIY fruit snack!  Dried apples!  You can do this with any fruit.

I added the leftover fruit snacks and the dried apple snacks to some baggies with raisins. Voila, a car-ready snack that makes thrifty use of leftovers and keeps them full for cheerleading practice!
